Plus Size Coverups
From LoveToKnow Plussize
Plus size coverups -- whether you prefer sarongs, robes or boyfriend-style blouses -- are smart and practical to throw over your swimsuit after a dip. You will find there are quite a few options to choose from in modern coverups. Or if you don’t like anything you see, you can get inventive with fun fabrics. Either way, you’ll make a splash.
Styles of Plus Size Coverups
Choosing a coverup depends on where you will be swimming and what you need, as well as what makes you feel attractive and comfortable. If you’re running around with the kids on the beach, you may just want a pair of shorts and a loose shirt, clothes that are very practical and can stand the dirt, water and rough-and-tumble. If you’re on a romantic cruise or honeymoon beach trip, you want an eye-catching, sexy sarong, perhaps with a matching head scarf. For an all-day barbecue and pool party, you may want a robe that skims your body like a wrap-around dress. Whatever you choose, don’t let prettiness overcome your practical needs. If you’re going to be by the water all day, you must wear long sleeves and a long skirt, even if you’re continually reapplying sunscreen. The exception is the cruise, where you can add to the romance and your exotic appeal by carrying a parasol. Don’t be discouraged, because you can easily buy something beautiful that protects your skin as well.
Shopping for Coverups
Coverups are one of those items you don’t have to try on before buying, because with very few exceptions, you’re not looking for something fitted. Therefore, you can look for good deals online. On the other hand, the end of summer and other off-season times are ideal for going into high-end shops and searching for quality merchandise at giveaway prices.
For online shopping, try Swimsuits Just for Us, a specialty shop that understands plus size women still want to look pretty and sexy when swimming or lounging and carries nothing but swimwear and coverups for active ladies of size.

The Beauty of Batik
Nothing says beach or resort wear like batik, and the Web site Big on Batik features wonderful swimsuits and coverups with batik designs. Best of all, this is the rare site selling plus size cover-ups, as well as swimwear, that uses plus size models who are really of size.
The batik cocoon jacket in two different prints is a wonderfully versatile piece. You can go straight from the beach to the office with it, after you’ve put on something underneath, that is. It’s fringed and very striking.
They also have several colorful caftans, and a range of hand-painted sarongs. All are four feet wide by eight feet long and come with how-to instructions for creating a variety of styles. Perfect for a resort holiday where you want to pack as little as possible but still have a diverse look.
Your time in the sun will be much more fun when you know you look fantastic!.
Comments
If you are looking for cover ups in tropical "souvenir shops" you'll usually find the "cheap" sarongs are very scanty and may not wrap all the way around you. However, look for the higher end sarongs (still a bargain!) and you will find much more generous measurements of fabric!
