White Stag Plus Size Jeans

From LoveToKnow Plussize

White Stag plus size jeans were once easy to find at Walmart, but if you're one of those women who loved this brand's comfort and fit you may be wondering what happened to their availability. Many stores no longer carry them, but thanks to the Internet you can still find them online.

White Stag Jeans

White Stag History

The original White Stag brand began with the Willamette Tent and Awning Company in Portland, Oregon. They didn't start out making clothing, but were known for their tents and sails. In 1929 the founder's son, Harold S. Hirsch, developed a new line of clothing designed exclusively for skiers. Following the first one-piece ski jumpsuit, Hirsch marketed his new line to ski shops and department stores and the White Stag brand was born. At the time, only three other companies produced clothing designed specifically for skiers. By the early 1940s business had grown and their clothing line expanded to include ski pants, jackets, wool sweaters, and jackets made of animal fur. The company continued to grow and was eventually bought by Warnaco Group Inc. in 1966. In 2003, Warnaco sold the White Stag label to Walmart for approximately $29 million.

White Stag Plus Size Jeans

White Stag jeans were warmly welcomed as a quality name brand by those loyal to the brand, and customers new to the brand were well satisfied, too. The plus size line was known for both fashion and comfort. Plus size women enjoyed having a large selection of current fashion choices in their sizes. The jeans came in colors such:

  • khaki
  • gray
  • black
  • indigo blue
  • light blue

The White Stag jeans were designed with a fabric blend of spandex and denim to provide a little extra stretch and a comfortable fit. That added stretch made them comfortable even when bending, sitting, stooping, or on the go. Other features that made White Stag plus size jeans popular included the fact that they were designed with pockets and had an elasticized waistband. Not only that, but they were also affordable and durable. Needless to say, it was a sad day for many White Stag customers when they learned their local Walmart would no longer be carrying the White Stag brand.

Shopping Resources Online

While some White Stag plus size jeans are still available in limited quantities online, their availability is dwindling. If you peruse the web and find what you're looking for in your size, it's probably wise to buy the White Stag jeans while you can, if you're not ready to settle for another brand. You can find White Stag products online at:

Comparable Brands

Unfortunately in today's market, when brands fall in and out of favor or just don't bring in enough revenue to be considered profitable, shoppers are forced to move on and look for comparable brands. White Stag was known for its perfect fit for apple-shaped women. The elastic waist not only made them comfortable but kept the waistband from sliding or rolling. The discontinuation of White Stag has scattered plus size women in new directions to find jeans that fit. Other jeans available in plus sizes with elastic waistbands include:

White Stag is still listed as a featured brand on the Walmart website, but at the time this article was written they didn't offer a selection of jeans for that brand.

Comments

Anita, I'd suggest to you the same that I suggested to Rosemary - keep your eye on eBay. Unfortunately there are no other outlets for White Stag jeans at the moment.

Rosemary, thanks for your comment. Here's hoping Walmart will reconsider and begin selling White Stag again. You may want to contact Walmart and send a letter voicing your interest in the line.

In the meantime, do keep an eye on eBay, where White Stag plus size jeans are occasionally available. Good luck.

I totally agree w/Rosemary. It seems as though Walmarts loves to hook you then throw you back in the sea. There have been several brands they have just dropped over the years. White Stag stretch jeans 16 thru 1X are not even plus size, yet they tossed us to the curb. Where can we find White Stag Stretch Jeans, our comfort is at issue here.
